You know when I sit and when I rise  – Psalm 132: 2
I think in some ways the psalmist in Psalm 139 is celebrating that God is present and he understands both the conscious things that I say and the conscious things that I think. Even more remarkably and more comforting is that he is aware of the subconscious reality of my life he knows things about me that I don’t even know about myself. Therefore when we come before God there is never any need to pose or pretend or to fake piety or self-righteousness before Him.
We must get past this sense that we are obligated to somehow pretend and to show God what we think he wants to see. This is called posing and pretending. If we continue to pose and pretend like we don’t have doubt or anger or lust or or Indulgence or addictions then we will never truly present before God. In fact, we will only be presenting a lesser version of ourselves to God. I will never know intimacy with God until I am willing to bring my temptations and my shadow before God.

I will never know intimacy with God until I am willing to bring my temptations and My shadow before God. “

The truth is we all possess a shadow that we would rather keep hidden from those we love and from the public. Sometimes our self-deception can be so great  and we can be committed to keeping the reality of our shadow even from ourselves. God already knows both the best version of me and he knows the worst version of me. He knows the best version of who I am and he knows the best version of who I could be.  He knows the worst version of who I am am and the worst version of who I could be and yet He still chooses to posture himself toward me with forgiveness with grace that is lavished upon me and with mercy that is new every morning
